The New Hampshire primary was everywhere, dominating the state weeks leading into Tuesday’s vote.

But Sunday, the politicians had to compete with the behemoth of the Super Bowl, which typically draws a huge audience, unlike most campaign events.

The only good thing might have been that the New England Patriots lost one game short of the Super Bowl, perhaps freeing up some New Hampshire voters to return their focus to the primary.

The candidates didn’t plan any traditional events during the big game, but some, like Carly Fiorina, did take advantage of the sports fever by holding pre-game parties. Marco Rubio was the only candidate to hold a watch party.

Some candidates who tried to have four events each day, such as New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, held events dangerously close to kickoff, but threw in the towel once the game started.
