MANCHESTER, N.H. – Seven American University students were treated to a behind-the-scenes experience on the pop-up set of Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect” during a class trip in which students covered the New Hampshire Primary.

Arriving about an hour before the hour-long program was set to air last Friday, students found hosts Mark Halperin and John Heilemann prepping for an on-air conversation with MSNBC’s breaking news anchor Brian Williams about the latest in the Democratic presidential primary in New Hampshire.

One thing home viewers don’t see is the amazingly elaborate set that surrounds the desk Halperin and Heilemann occupy, complete with tufted couches, a bar topped with bowls of fruit and even a digital screen showing a wood-burning fireplace.

These amenities, coupled with the purple lighting (true to the shade of the Bloomberg Politics logo) throughout, creates a unique behind-the-scenes ambiance.

Another behind-the-scenes revelation: What we see on television is about 15-seconds behind what is occurring in real time. According to Wikipedia, the intentional delay is the network’s way of avoiding potential FCC penalties should undesirable material or language be used.

“With All Due Respect” airs weekdays at 5 p.m. ET on Bloomberg and at 6 p.m. ET on MSNBC.
